Supernatural, Horror tv for the discriminating viewer

Supernatural on the C.W. network is consistently one of the best genre shows on T.V., the mix of humor and horror blends well for this cult show that everyone should be watching. The show deals with a pair of demon hunting brothers with the last name Winchester and their quest to avenge the deaths of those close to them.
The first few seasons were nothing short of magical, with episodes that I would put up against any horror fiction out there (crossroads was my personal favorite) and this is definitely a show you have to watch in order. The last couple of season though have gotten a little heavy handed with the Angels Vs. Demons angle and the preaching about the evils of religion and how God doesn't care about his creations.    That being said the two main characters and Bobby Singer (their surrogate dad/demon hunter) have some of the best on screen chemistry I have ever seen. This one is well worth checking out.

Muppets and other news

So sorry no posts for a couple of days I have been kinda busy. In the last couple of days we have gotten word from hollywood about a new Muppets movie coming out this Thanksgiving.  Now any true Muppets fan will know that they have not been the same since Jim Henson died, but this one might be worth a look never the less.  More info on the Muppets movie can be found in my other blog here .

Check back later in the week for movie reviews and cd reviews and thanks for reading.

Macho Man Randy Savage

Sorry to go depressing on this one gang but I just found out that The Macho Man just passed away. Randy Savage was a major part of my childhood, I used to wake up early on Saturdays so I could watch him wrestle. He was and still is my favorite wrestler of all time. I know it may seem silly to mourn an entertainer that I don't know personally ( I did meet him once) but this is really tearing me up today. I haven't felt like this since I heard Lux Interior died (if you dont  know who he is go buy a Cramps C.D. right fuckin now). So as my poor tribute to the great Macho Man tonight I will be watching some vintage matches featuring him, and here's hoping he dropping the atomic elbow on some angel in that big wrestling ring in the sky. Via Con Dios Randy we will miss ya.

Dynamic Forces the only way to buy comics

I just ordered some stuff from Dynamic Forces, and am proud to say as always they are a top notch company. In the past I have ordered several of their random daily deals and wound up with signed comics by Stan Lee, John Romita Sr., Billy Tan, and Greg Pak for pennies on the dollar of what they were worth. For any serious collector they are well worth checking out and if they read this and want to send me some free swag well that would be ok also. www.dynamicforces.com

L.A. Noire or why rockstar seems to want to rip off gamers

L.A. Noire Sucks!!! This has to be one of the glitchiest damn  games I have ever played. Unexplained freezes, pixelization, frame rate issues, and lag (even during single player play, which makes no since). This is a case of Rockstar rushing to market befor enough beta testing was done. So until a patch is released that addresses these problems I would give this one a pass.  Alice, the madness returns is in 2 weeks I have high hopes for that one.

Emo and Goth subculture

Today's rant is brought to you by the letters F & U. I am sick of these little fucking emo & goth kids who think what they are doing is new. I was out and about earlier today wearing a Love and Rockets shirt (one of my fave gloomcore bands) when this little degenerate wearing a simple plan shirt says something to me about how Love and Rockets are cool but they were just ripping off. Bullet for my Valentine. So after I restrain my self from bludgeoning this kid to death with a hot topic sign I calmly explained to him about Love and Rockets and Bauhaus being around  decades before Bullet to which he replied "Whatever man" and walked off. For the sake of all that is dark and unholy, people we have to educate the youth lest they all become mindless clones and start thinking that Green Day invented punk rock.

Mc LArs, Mc Chris and others in the U.K.. Why no love for the U.S.A.

Just read on twitter that Mc. Lars, Mc. Chris and a bunch of other rappers are on a tour in the U.K. (for you u k readers you don't know how fucking lucky u are) But my question is why no love for America on this tour guys. I live in the south and it is rare to see any of the great Nerdcore rappers live down here but a bill like the one playin in england is unheard of. So if by chance any of the guys on the tour are reading this then how bout some shows in Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina. There is a scene down here you just have to show up for it to mobilize. A Special shout out to Pingy.com for suggesting my blog by the way, thanks alot guys. For all the normal readers a new geek rant will be up tomorrow but for now I just had to get this off my chest.

Preist 3d or what Judge Dredd should have been

Took part of the cabal the other night to see Priest in 3d, as an unabashed comic fan one could say I was really excited for this one.  After the two hours the movie lasted I left feeling betrayed, not by the makers of Priest mind you (which in it's self was a seriously kick ass film), But by Stallone and company for making that absurd turd of a Judge Dredd film a few years back. Priest was more like a Judge Dredd movie than anything in that colostomy bag of a Judge Dredd film. So in closing if your a post apocalyptic film fan go check out Priest, and FUCK STALLONE AND ANY ONE ELSE WHO HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH JUDGE DREDD MOVIE.

E.A. games are a bunch of Assholes and other rants

I work in a game store, (no not gameslop, the other one) and I have to deal with the fact the E.A. has started including the online pass with all their new games, (you have to put a code in to play the game online) and other companies are starting to follow suit. Which basically means if you buy a used game made by one of the douche bags then you have to pay an additional fee to pay for a new online pass ($10-15) well you know what Fuck these guys I just wont buy your games anymore and this includes the new BRINK from the makers of borderlands. In the middle of one of the worst economies on record, these bloodsuckers are trying to bleed us dry.

Doctor Who

I am a purest, I grew up with Tom Baker as Doctor Who and for years he was The Doctor for me. Then along came David Tenant who never eclipsed Baker but quickly showed me that their might be more than one flavor of doctor that I liked. Tenant's run was nothing short of amazing and as it ended I went into the new Matt Smith run with high hopes. Matt Smith however has yet to wow me the way Baker and Tenant did. It's not that he is not good but it is that the show seems to be struggling to find itself again. The doctor for me works when he is the smartest guy in the room and shows little glimmers of this in sarcastic and funny ways while everyone around him falls apart. (kinda like Greg House in space) So here's hoping that the writers find their way and Matt Smith gets into the role or we may be watching the Doctor Who franchise dying again, and this time I think we might be out of regenerations.

Marvel Movies

Went and saw Thor the other night (midnight at Imax 3d) and was pleasantly surprised  how good it was. You see, you can call me a cynic but I think that comic book movies are doomed to let their core audience down. (i.e. comic fans) If the movies let themselves get too wrapped up in the milieu of the source material (i.e. Watchmen) they end up alienating John Q. Public but if they go the other way and try to make an actual blockbuster it pisses of comic fans because they aren't true to the comics. I think Thor walked this line just right (as most Marvel Comics films have with the exceptions of the last Spiderman and X-men films and the Daredevil Franchise). So for my entry I say bravo Marvel don't change the formula and until you ruin the Avengers next year I will continue to see your movies.
